JANUARY 23RD, 2016
ADVANTAGED is a physical, spoken and projected performance collaging feature films, documentary footage, bodies, and words throughout LAND AND SEA's exhibition space. Images, sounds and the audience will be moved around the gallery.
Tatiana Luboviski-Acosta is an artist working sometimes with the visual, sometimes with movement, sometimes with language, sometimes all three at once. They've taught movement and filmmaking to children and adults alike, and their work has been exhibited and performed in Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Written work has been published in a chapbook, PDF, by Solar Luxuriance; appeared in Esferas, the journal of the department of Spanish and Portuguese at NYU; and featured on the SBSM album JOY/RAGE. They live in San Francisco.
Konrad Steiner is a moving-image artist living in San Francisco. He makes single channel 16mm and video with a primary interest in collaborative film performances. He is interested in working with projection as composition and interpretation in the context of live cinema. Since 1980 he has been curating both independently and affiliated with various venues in the SF Bay Area including Kino21, Artists' Television Access, SF Cinematheque, and Stanford University.
Paul Clipson is a San Francisco-based filmmaker who often collaborates with sound artists and musicians on films, live performances, and installations. His films and videos aim to bring to light visual preoccupations that reveal themselves while working in a stream of consciousness manner, combining densely layered, in-camera edited studies of figurative and abstract environments, in a process that encourages unplanned-for results, responding to and conversing with the temporal qualities of musical composition and live performance.
